Pattaya was a quiet fishing village until the 1960s, but it has now become a cosmopolitan city known for its beaches. I have seen pictures and videos of breathtaking sunsets at the beach in Pattaya, so I really wanted to stay next to the beach.
I did pre-book an Airbnb that promised sunset on the beach but it turned out to be a hotel room without even a window. When I asked for a room with sea view, I was told that I have to pay extra. After discussing with my girlfriend, we decided to ask for a refund for the Airbnb room and book The Jomtien Twelve which offers rooms with sea view at just THB$1500 per night.
This is The Jomtien Twelve’s Superior Plus room. There are two single beds and a small wooden balcony that looks out to the sea.
There is a (empty) mini fridge, water boiler and some coffee and tea sachets.
The bathroom is small but clean with standing shower and beautifully-colored floor tiles.
The Jomtien Twelve Restaurant located on the ground floor serves breakfast from 7am – 10am.
You can choose a breakfast item from the menu which includes
- Cornflakes with milk
- Scramble eggs with ham salad
- American breakfast
- Congee, choice of pork or chicken with poached egg
- French toast with bacon
My girlfriend and I ordered American Breakfast and French Toast with Bacon. It is definitely not the best I have tasted but edible.
Besides the items from the breakfast menu, there is free-flow juice concentrate, bread with butter and jam, soybean milk, fried rice, fried noodles, porridge, fruits and make-your-own-salad bar.
The Jomtien Twelve is a 3-4 star beachside hotel at best, but its prime location and affordability makes it a good choice for budget-conscious travelers.
