When I did massage at Healing Touch back in 2019, it was the number 1 spa in in Singapore. Now the whole TripAdvisor’s Spas & Wellness Centers in Singapore section is dominated by Natureland and Wellaholic. Wellaholic is an aesthetic chain which I have no interest in but I do want to know why Natureland is so popular in Singapore. My only experience with Natureland was in Bangkok and the place was definitely not memorable. The massage was done on mattresses laid on the floor with only flimsy curtains for privacy. Natureland Liat Tower is the most popular outlet and I decided to do a massage there to find out why.
A search on the internet revealed that the Natureland in Singapore are a whole new ball game. These spa centers are deck-out in golden splendor with decorations that make them look like mini-palaces. It’s no wonder why it was awarded Singapore Prestige Brand Award 2019.
Natureland Liat Tower
You can reach Natureland Liat Tower via either Orchard MRT station or bus. I took a bus from my workplace which dropped me off opposite Liat Tower. I can see Natureland Liat Tower’s impressive store front from across the road and it looks magnificent.
A signboard outside the entrance lists the different treatments available. The prices are surprisingly affordable for a place of such grandeur. There are foot reflexology, body massage, slimming/pre-natal massage, body scrub, tui na/sports massage, guasha and traditional toenail/ear cleaning.
Interior Design
The interior of Natureland Liat Tower comes in shades of gold and brown which accentuates the grandiosity of the place. I especially like the walkway that leads to the foot reflexology rooms with Thai sculptures on both sides.
A mini garden with spiral crystal lights in the middle of a spiral staircase forms the centerpiece of this luxurious spa center.
The rooms on the ground floor are mostly for feet reflexology and upper back massages. There are solo, couple and communal massage rooms available. The rooms on the second floor (accessed via the spiral staircase) are for full body massage with solo and couple rooms available.
Signature Full Body Massage
I booked their signature Body Massage 90 minutes [S$85 for members, S$115 for non-members]. A staff led me up the spiral staircase to a solo room on the second floor.
Golden wall decorations gives this golden-brown-hued room a touch of luxury. White fluorescent lights above the cabinets and on the wall makes the room feel very cosy.
Following the masseuse’s instructions, I changed out of my clothes and laid face-down on the bed with a large towel covering my back.
My masseuse was a petite Chinese lady, Alice. She used to work as a masseuse back in China and she has been with Natureland in Singapore for 5 years.
She first did a general massage without oil followed by thorough massage with jasmine-fragrance massage oil. I asked her to focus on my neck, shoulder and back muscles so she spent more time massaging those areas.
Having many years of massage experience, Alice is meticulous and gave me a really good massage. I was surprised how sore my buttock muscles were, she really worked on those muscles.
Conclusion
Even though Natureland Liat Tower looks imposing with lavish decorations, the prices are actually pretty reasonable.
The best part about Natureland is that all (except for Natureland Spa Premium in Marina Bay Sands) are open 24-hours! You can literally have a massage any time of the day.
Natureland only employs masseuses with at least 5 years of prior experience so you will definitely get a good massage.
