Thiri Thitsar Hotel (Win Unity Hotel) – Good Location and Clean Rooms

There wasn’t any unique accommodations on Airbnb in Myanmar, so my colleague Su and I decided to stay in a hotel instead. After much searching on Agoda, we decided on Thiri Thitsar Hotel for its proximity to the railway station. (But I didn’t actually get to take the train from Yangon to Mandalay. 12Go.Asia informed me 2 DAYS before the train departure that the train is fully-booked. I ended up taking an overnight bus instead).

Thiri Thitsar Hotel is a stand-alone building at the intersection of 22nd and 64th Street. It is part of the Win Unity Hotel group, which is why the signage says “Win Unity Hotel” above and “Thiri Thitsar” below.

The reception area is spacious and airy with brown leather sofas and carved wooden pillars. The staff behind the wooden reception are courteous and helpful.

I arrived that the hotel way too early for check-in (check-in time is 2pm). I deposited my luggage at the reception and walked to 19th street to get some breakfast. Thiri Thitsar Hotel is just a 10-minute walk to 19th street where the market and shops are.

I arrived back at Thiri Thitsar Hotel at about 10am. When I have finished my simple yet delicious breakfast, one of the staff at the reception told me that the room is ready for check-in. It was only 11am, which meant they did an early check-in for me, how sweet of them. My colleague Su arrived shortly and a bellboy showed us to our room.

I booked a twin-bed room and the room was much more spacious than I expected. There was even a seating area and a dressing table complete with a huge mirror.
We paid S$113.18 for 2 nights which equates to S$56.59 per night. I think it’s pretty worth it.

The toilet is small but clean, all the toiletries are laid out neatly in one corner of the sink counter. The towels are clean but the power outlet looked rusty-orange old (not sure if it was intentional).

Our room looks out to the pool on the first floor. We didn’t get the chance to use the pool, but I saw many people swimming in it, so it should be clean.

Thiri Thitsar Hotel is a stand-alone hotel that is within walking distance to 19th Street and quite a few tourist attractions. The rooms are spacious and clean and and the staff are very helpful. If you are looking for a hotel recommendation in Mandalay, I highly recommend Thiri Thitsar Hotel.
