Batam is known for three things – cheap shopping, cheap food and cheap massage. Since I am not a shopping person, I will skip that part. I have written about Acia Ikan Bakar in my previous post, an outdoor place to have barbecue seafood.
There are hundreds of massage parlors in Batam. How do you find a good massage parlor that does not try to rip you off? I hope to shed some light on that question with this review of the 2 massage parlors I have personally tried.
Batam Massage: Dimension Spa
My mother and I were overjoyed to discover that Dimension Spa is located inside Allium Batam Hotel when we were staying at.
Dimension Spa offers body massage, aromatherapy massage and various spa packages. We checked the prices and found it to be very reasonable (the prices are not only reasonable, it is super cheap when compared with those found in Singapore! 120 minutes of the Dimension Package which includes body massage and body scrub is only RP428000 (~S$42.80)!) After a scrumptious dinner at Acia Ikan Bakar, we headed to Dimension Spa for massage.
The best part about Dimension Spa is that it is open until 1am. Its late closing hours mean you can get that much-needed massage after a long day of shopping. It is open to both hotel guests and non-hotel guests.
The masseurs here are very experienced. They know exactly how much strength to apply, massaging the tiredness from my muscles.
My mother and I liked their massage so much that we ended up doing 4 massages each.

My mother and I are addicted to massage. Dimension Spa is very good, but we wanted to try out another massage centre. GO! Massage is just next to Allium Batam Hotel so we decided to check it out. The prices are about the same as Dimension Spa so I decided to do my massage here. My mother decided to try out another spa a few shops down that offered cheaper prices. (She later told me that the massage at the place she went sucks. I guess the saying “you get what you pay for” applies to massage too.)
GO! Massage has received many good reviews on TripAdvisor. It was awarded “Certificate of Excellence” by TripAdvisor in year 2014-2016. It is very popular with tour companies so it might be a good idea to make an appointment beforehand to avoid long waiting time.
GO! Massage provides traditional massage, reflexology, thai massage, signature massage, aromatherapy, scrub, ear candle and head therapy. If you want to try everything in one go, you can go for the Full Package [RP 450000] (S$42.30).
The girl at the reception is very helpful. The masseur who did my massage was very experienced. She did a great job of relaxing my muscles.
